Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter who made more than 2000 artworks, including about 900 paintings. Van Gogh's use of vivid colors and the emotional impact of his artwork resulted in his work being a big influence on 20th century art. On 30 March 1853, Vincent van Gogh was born in the south of the Netherlands, in the village of Groot-Zundert, in the province of North Brabant. He had two brothers and three sisters. Vincent was a thoughtful, silent and serious child.
